"Skip is an incredible instructor.
I have taken many university courses from professors who knew their subject less. Skip is engaging, personable, and willing
to meet outside of class if necessary."
Eric Helpenstell, Gig Harbor
"Captain Anderson is a true professional mariner
and instructor. He teaches the material, not the test. He is the kind of dedicated mentor that remains in the
classroom for as long as it takes to ensure his students understand the myriad of details associated with being the master
of a vessel. With a full career under his belt as a U.S. Navy officer, he uses his thousands of hours of experience
at sea to facilitate understanding of the many esoteric procedures, customs, and traditions specific to the marine environment.
After course completion, he remains "the" professional resource I turn to when I have a question, need counsel or
follow-up with regard to maritime operations. His facility is modern, organized and provides the professional backdrop
for delivery of the course. Skip is a "Captain's Captain," a gentleman, and a known expert in marine matters
in the Puget Sound area."
Officer Philip Johnson, FWO3,
Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife
"Thanks, Skip. Meeting you and getting through your class has really changed my life. I love being Captain
of my own destiny."
Walt Newman, Bremerton
"Skip's tips, knowledge and experience were
valuable beyond words and fully worth the tuition by himself."
Charlene Carpenter, retired, Bremerton
"I was very impressed with the organization and presentation
of the materials, as well as Skip as the instructor. I would highly recommend this course. At the outset of our first 3 hour
class, Skip outlined the schedule of the course and the materials. He offered an opportunity for a break halfway through the
evening, but indicated that typically his classes in the past have not requested the break and usually just worked straight
through. I found this hard to believe, but Skip demonstrated an ability to present the materials as an instructor and coach
with a method that created such enthusiasm that no break was requested in any of the classes. Even facing a class with large
differences in experience and education, Skip was able to keep the attention of all and instill confidence in everyone to
develop their maritime skills successfully. All of the students gained valuable knowledge from the materials as well as the
intriguing stories from Skip's lifelong background on the water. Regardless of your experience level, if you have an interest
in gaining knowledge regarding navigation, charting, and maritime rules, I would highly suggest that you take this course.
Skip will keep you fully engaged and entertained while you gain a vast amount of information that will serve to enhance your
degree of professionalism on the water."
John Long, attorney, University
Place
"The
class was well worth my time and effort. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever undertaken. The instructor
was first class, and his real world experience made the class come alive. Skip, thanks for helping me set a new course."
Steve Hansen, Boeing engineer, Milton
"We're all a lot smarter about being on the water than we were before CAPT Anderson entered our lives. Sometimes
I wish I'd entered into these pursuits earlier in life, like flying and sailing, but family and responsibilities and jobs
and my own self-imposed boundaries got in the way. Now is my time." Dave Moorehead, retired, Onalaska
